If their
wives sponsor fashion shows it is OK because it’s their private life. But
Police officers and bureaucrats should avoid attending such functions
particularly when they are supposed to be in their respective offices
attending to the public grievances. SP Vaid, the then DIG not only
attended the ‘Talent Hunt’ function, but also presided it as Chief Guest.
Why? The matter should be enquired into particularly when the ‘Talent
Club’ has proved to be a dirty den.
In
pursuance of the directions passed by The Double Bench of J&K High
Court comprising Justice Hussain and Justice Bashir Ahmed Kirmani, the
State DGP has constituted a three member committee of senior officers to
investigate the Anara Gupta case afresh. The directions have been issued
on the PIL of a Shiv Sena activist, Amit Chauhan who wants Anara Gupta
case also to be taken as seriously as has been taken the ‘Srinagar Sex
Scandal’ in view of their similar nature.
It may be interesting to recall that Anara
Gupta case had been closed by the State police in contravention of the
orders of the CJM Jammu who had directed the State DGP for constituting a
team of officers of ‘proven competence and integrity’ for investigating
the case afresh. These directions however, remained un-complied perhaps
because the DGP couldn’t find officers of proven integrity thereby
bringing his own integrity under a thick cloud of doubt! And now when the Double Bench of
the State High Court monitoring the CBI investigations in the Srinagar
Sex Scandal issued notice to the State Government seeking its objections
in case the Anara Gupta case is also reopened and referred to CBI for
fresh investigation, the genie of Anara Gupta has started hovering over
the heads of many ‘gentlemen’ enjoying both power as well as prestige
because if the case is reopened and investigated by the CBI both their
power and prestige may evaporate in the thin air.
The infamous Anara Gupta Porno CD case had
been hushed up by the police on the plea that according to Hyderabad
based forensic laboratory report, Anara Gupta was not found in the CD
under investigation despite the fact that the two other FSLs based in
Chandigarh and Gandhi Nagar Gujrat had confirmed that the girl present in
the said CD was very much Anara Gupta. The question is: Why did police
produce different CDs for different forensic labs? The answer obviously
is: To confuse the case and make it doubtful so that those involved in
the case could remain ‘masked’. But now when an identical case is being
investigated by CBI, the request of Mr. Chauhan seeking reopening of the
case and handing it over to CBI for fresh investigation, cannot be
rejected thereby ensuring tightening of noose around the neck of some
‘gentlemen’ in Jammu who in no way can be more influential than those
rounded up by CBI in the Srinagar Sex Scandal.
It may be recalled that Anara Gupta was
adjudged as Miss Jammu for the year 2001 by a panel of judges that
include Jagmohan Singh of Doordarshan, Vinni Handa, Principal of Tini Tots
School, Vicky Mahajan, a leading business man, Ajay Kapoor, Neeru
Goswami, Mrs. SP Vaid and Mr. Vaid himself who happens to be a senior
police officer.
The man who decided to change the life style
of girls in Jammu was Pawan Sharma. He begain with a brilliant idea of
getting the best possible faces to a stage from where they could see the
world from a different perspective. Accordingly, he launched ‘Talent Hunt
Club’ in 1993. What talent he was searching for at that time was not
clear, but now one can make out that it was not a real talent hunt, it
was a hunt for those who could be exploited, used and reused. It went
that way and Anara is a testimony to that fact.
The Lure Trap: Pick up a girl and mould her by
showing a dreamscape. Show her the gizmos that money can create and when
all inhibitions are shed go for the jugular. The first step towards it is
sleeping with the man who introduced her to the new world. Thereafter
doors start opening one after another. The last phase is getting the girl
to pose, bare her flesh to one and all. Anara reportedly went through
each and every stage, but she was not the only one. There are so many
others involved and sex scandals unheard in Srinagar and Handwara are a
proof of that.
