Professor J.R Rathore

Professor Rathore was awarded prestigious Gold Medal by Jammu and Kashmir Government for exceptional services rendered by him in the department of Education particularly as Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education. The Gold Medal was presented to him by His Excellency, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, General (Retd) K.V Krishna Rao on Republic Day, 1996 at an Investiture Ceremony held in Raj Bhawan, Jammu.

Bhadarwah has the distinction of producing a considerably large number of luminaries. They have been great poets; great teachers; great lawyers; great surgeons; great writers; great engineers; great academicians and great politicians. A good number of them have been bringing laurels to the nation while doing remarkable performance in foreign countries. In this galaxy of luminaries Professor Janak Raj Rathore enjoys a significant place and if somebody has any doubts let him study his rich personal bio-data and find the difference himself.Born at village Sarolbagh in picturesque Bhadarwah, of late Dr. Brij Lal Rathore on April 21st, 1933, Professor Janak Raj Rathore popularly known as J.R.Rathore joined Education Department as a Lecturer after doing Post Graduation in Mathematics. After teaching for 16 years in various colleges of Jammu and Kashmir, Professor Rathore, in 1965 was deputed as Sqn. Ldr. in the Air Force Wing of the National Cadet Corps for a period of seven years. During this time he played a key role in raising two Sqns of Air Force in the NCC one at Jammu and another at Kulu.Besides being an efficient teacher, Professor Rathore has been an excellent administrator as well and this he proved while holding prestigious positions like Registrar of Jammu University, Secretary J&K Board of School Education, Director Education, J&K, Director College Development University of Jammu, and Chairman J&K Board of School Education.

Professor Rathore has the distinction of being awarded fellowship by Council of International Exchange of Schools of USA, British Council for study of Higher Education System in UK, and UNPA as Director Population Project J&K to interact with similar bodies in Thailand and Indonesia. Professor Rathore has inspected Indian Schools in Sultanate of Oman, attended Seminar on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation organised by Government of Moratious and Examinations Syndicate in Moratious and delivered Key Note address on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation.

Professor Rathore also headed the Council of Boards of School Education India as its Director for three years. He was appointed as a member of the Committees constituted by Ministry of Human Resource Development Department of Education for preparation of minimum levels of learning at the elementary stage of education and the Committee constituted for specifying roles and functions of the Boards of School Education in India.

Professor Rathore has been on the Board of Directors in Acharya Sri Chandra College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu. In his capacity as Director Administration, Professor Rathore has been doing superb job by helping the poor especially belonging to remote and backward districts like Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua and Udhampur.
