Double Speak
Chanakya
who is considered as world’s top most political philosopher though born
in India his philosophy is practiced more by Pak rulers than by Indians
and the double speak by Pak President General Parvez Musharraf is a proof
of that. It has always been policy of the Pak rulers to first inflict
casualties and then fall on feet of their opponent begging apologies when
the later paid them in the same coin. This happened with India when Pak
tribes raided Kashmir in 1947, this happened after 1971 Indo-Pak war and
this happened after Kargil war in 1998. And every time like a big
brother, India forgave Pakistan for its misadventures. Had this not been
the case, ninety thousand Pak Prisoners of War captured by Indian Army
wouldn’t have been released after fall of Dhaka in 1971. But itching of
Pak rulers did not end. When they understood that it was not militarily
possible they started a proxy war by sending Muslim gorillas from
Afghanistan and Pakistan to foment trouble in Kashmir. But when this
strategy has also failed Pak rulers have once again started wooing India
by offering to cooperate in its fight against terrorists and the joint
declaration duly signed by Dr. Manmohan Singh and General Parvez
Musharraf after their Havana meeting is a proof of that.
Pakistani offer of cooperation to fight out
terrorism indeed is a welcome step, but how sincere the Pak rulers have
been is a million Dollar question staring in the eyes of every positive
thinking person particularly when even today General Parvez Musharraf
feels pride in saying that Kashmir runs in the blood of every Pakistani.
In this backdrop would it be genuine to pin much hopes with recent stance
of General Musharraf? Perhaps not! USA is the biggest supporter of Pakistan
where Bin laden and his commanders are reported hiding. America is
fighting Taliban in Afghanistan and General Musharraf is feeding them in
Wazirstan. If Pak rulers cannot be sincere with their friend in need how
can they be so with a country against whom they have launched a
relentless hate campaign ever since Pakistan became a country? What
General Musharraf is saying today is a lie wrapped in a presentable
envelop of words. On one hand he has assembled thousands of militants on
the LOC for infiltrating in Kashmir whereas on the other hand he has been
trying to hood wink the world opinion by extending hand of cooperation to
India for fighting terrorism. Pak rulers have not played tricks with its
enemies only they have ditched Kashmiris also whom they call as their
dear ones. Pakistani rulers first encouraged rebellion in Kashmir in the
name of plebiscite and then showed them dream of independence that
resulted in large scale devastation and now when they realised that they
may lose even that part of Kashmir which is under Pak occupation, they are saying no to
freedom now, which is sheer treachery. This is a double speak and those
who indulge in double speak cannot be and should not be trusted.
Kashmiris trusted Pakistan and paid the price. India should learn this
lesson and frame its policies accordingly. It would not be out of place
to adopt Chankya Niti while dealing with Pakistan whose Army
rulers have proved to be more diplomatic than Indians.
