COVER STORY Grand Gesture!

 

By accepting the recommendations of four out of five Working Groups constituted by Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh after his Srinagar visit last year, the third Round Table Conference has given away a grand gesture not only for solving problems of people of the State, but also to find out a lasting solution of the vexed Kashmir Dispute. The RTC, which was presided over by the Prime Minister also decided to constitute a high level committee to over view the implementation of the recommendations of the Working Groups, which according to the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad will start functioning within next couple of months. The recommendations of the fifth Working Group on State-Centre relations have yet to be submitted to the government hence could not be discussed in the Conference.

The State Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad has declared that the third RTC was hundred percent successful, but others do not think so. National Conference is of the opinion that unless militants were involved in the peace process no dialogue can be successful. Geelani Sahib says that all Working Groups and RTCs are useless things. The solution of Kashmir dispute lay in UN Resolut-ions and unless these are implemented the Dispute will not be solved. Mir Waiz Umar Farooq is also not satisfied because according to him PDP has already snatched from Hurriyet its agenda and BJP and Pandit organizations are upset because according to them their view point had not been accommodated in the RTC.

There may be difference of opinion about the outcome of the RTC, but one thing has become clear that India is damn serious  ..FULL STORY
