The way different political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their activities, it is apparent that State Assembly polls are somewhere round the corner. In past about a month or so over two dozen big rallies of major political parties have taken place across the State and surprisingly each one of them can be genuinely described as successful. For the first time, even Friday Specialists (APHC) have come out of their traditional shells and addressed public meetings outside mosque premises. Some of them have tried to reach out to this part of Pirpanjal also to spread their mass base in the Dogra heartland. They have even formed their organizational units in Jammu and other districts shedding their communal and Kashmir centric image. The development is healthy, but more than that it is significant enough to tell that even separatists were in a mood of flexing their muscles to plunge into electoral process if the atmosphere for them to do so becomes ‘conducive’.

With various players in the field, it is difficult to speculate as to what would be the exact complexion of the next Assembly.  One thing however is clear that no party would be able to form a government at its own thereby making it imperative for each party to select its post poll partners and the chief patron of National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah has already taken a lead by announcing in a private function held at Jammu that he will not mind if NC had to form the government with the help of BJP, it is another thing though that he disowned his own statement under pressure from his party colleagues particularly his own ..FULL STORY
