Written by Ranbir Manhas, the
above titled article has cleared many doubts about the ASCOMS (Batra)
Hospital created by a section of local Press about its performance. It is
rather a matter of pride for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to have a
hospital where surgery of almost all types of heart related diseases is
being done. As per the account, the writer had developed a triple vessel
disease of which doctors in ASCOMS did successful surgery.
The writer as I know is no ordinary man. Besides
being an influential journalist, he is known for having high political
and social links as well. If he decided to go for the by pass surgery in ASCOMS,
that means he was fully convinced about the ability of the concerned
doctors and the result of the surgery proved that his decision was not
wrong.
Doctors use their skill to save the patient who
for them is the most valuable person. If a negligible number of patients
die in ASCOMS during or after operation, it should be considered as a
routine matter as death is destined and it comes even in the hospitals of
the most developed nations like USA and UK. What is important for the people of the State is that
they can now go for heart surgery at an affordable cost in their own
town. We wish the doctors and management of ASCOMS all the success. We
are proud of them as they are rendering commendable service to the people
of the State.

Skardu-Kargil Road
Like the demand of opening of Srinagar-
Muzaffarabad and Poonch- Rawalakot Roads, demand for opening of
Skardu-Kargil Road is also gaining momentum. But this demand is not
coming from PDP or any other Kashmiri organization. It is, ironically
coming from the people of Skardu, which is under the Pak occupation.
The writer has rightly said that the culture,
traditions and topography of Kargil and Skardu are identical and if the
said road is opened for traffic, the two parts can provide great
potential of tourism capable enough to attract tourists from whole of the
world. It is good that
people on both sides of the artificial divider are keen to remove all man
made hurdles. In this backdrop if the demand of opening of Skardu-Kargil
Road could be considered it would be a great leap towards shortening of
distance between the two sides of the LoC both geographically as well as
psychologically.

From 34 to 9th Position
The article written by eminent
JKLF leader, Shabir Choudhry is interesting as well as stunning. Pakistan
indeed was created with a purpose. Its founders wanted Pakistan as a land
of the ‘pure’ where peace and prosperity would be the order of the day.
But is Pakistan of today the same as its founders had once conceived? The
answer is an emphatic negative.
If reports being published on regular basis by
experts from USA are to be believed, then Pakistan is constantly
suffering from a nose diving in almost all the walks of life. The land of
the ‘pure’ is being used as a factory to prepare human bombs to destroy
peace not only of the infidels, but of those believers of Islam as well
who do not see eye to eye with the policies of the subsequent Pak
Governments. It is because of their wrong policies that despite getting
liberal financial support from USA and allied nations, the economy of
Pakistan has been constantly slipping down and it is rated as a poor and
backward country poorer than the poorest ones.
The writer is justified to say that Pakistan
will disappear from the world map very soon if its rulers do not change
their attitude. How can purity be expected from a nation which has been
rated as second most corrupt nation of the world?
Kashmiris have been depending on Pakistan, but
what did they get in turn except widows and orphans? It is time for all
of us to understand the realty and stop looking towards Pakistan for
help. Obviously, a country that cannot save itself, how can it help
others to save themselves?

The Destabilization Game
The destabilization Game
written by JP Gandotra is an interesting account of the State politics,
Political parties in the Valley are unhappy with Azad because he is not
from the Valley. According to the writer the Valley based political
parties are now contemplating to stage a come back by overthrowing Jammu
based Azad (though his wife is a pure Kashmiri) from the coveted post
that has been held by a non-Kashmiri for the first time.
However, situation in the State is such that
Kashmiri leaders will have to bear with Azad at least for the remaining
term of his Government. Azad can be overthrown only if Abdullahs and
Muftis join hands, but will East and West ever meet?
