COVER STORY BJP on Revival Spree

By capturing some Lok Sabha seats in Bihar and by winning most of the Mayoral elections in UP, BJP seems to be on a revival spree. At this stage unanimous election of Ashok Khajuria as BJP President for J&K state assumes much significance particularly when the State will go for Assembly polls during his tenure. There were many candidates in the fray for the coveted post, but due to timely intervention of the party high command all of them withdrew making it possible to declare the elections as uncontested. “I was a serious candi-date for President post, but the party high command asked me not to fill the nomination form, and I obeyed like a disciplined soldier”, says former Mayor, Kavinder Gupta.

A postgraduate of Jammu University, Ashok Khajuria has a rich political background.
